Award-winning concept app that tackles climate change

Loop

Adobe IBM iX Creative Jam 2019 Winner

I worked on Loop with Amber Chiang, Sasha Menshikova, Cody Capella, and Tyler Rathod as part of Adobe’s IBM iX Creative Jam in September 2019. We were given 48 hours to design and prototype an app related to the climate crisis.

Phone screens showing the Loop onboarding process: a welcome page, a page where someone can select their environmental interests, and a page where they can enter their location.

Everyday we see new think pieces outlining all the ways we need to change our behavior to save the planet. As a result, we start to feel paralyzed—we’re presented with so many things to do that we don’t know where to start.

Loop sets things in motion by using personalized, manageable tasks to make forming environmentally-friendly habits approachable and rewarding.

Phone screens showing a task to go dairy-free for a day and a user’s progress on their profile.

Customizing small, digestible steps based on what someone is interested in leads them to feel more fulfilled by and invested in their actions. Rewarding completed tasks and tracking progress over time generates feelings of accomplishment and encourages continued use.

A hand holding a phone at the beach. The screen shows Loop community events for a beach cleanup and a water-saving challenge.

Incorporating community events connects people to the environmental movement around them and lets them see the direct impact of their actions.

A colorful interface and playful illustrations keep the tone upbeat and optimistic, far from the doom-and-gloom that often accompanies conversations about climate change.

Each task can be easily completed within a day.
